Titanium-Graphite Driver 380 GS by TCG
Review Thomas Golf Titanium-Graphite Driver 380 GS – by TCG, Connecticut Appearance – My first impression was very positive. The ‘all-black,’ from grip to shaft to head, and even head cover, instantly conveyed this was a very professional looking, very ‘serious’ golf club. With the club on the ground, with it’s flat top and alignment indicator, it looks ‘ready’ to hit the ball, without looking excessively bulky like too many drivers these days. The hand/grip placement line on the grip was new, helpful, and consistent with the Thomas ‘alignment’ theme. Feel – The first thing you’ll notice is how light this club is. It really made me wonder how it can be so light. No doubt it’s the result of the titanium body and graphite top. The grip provides a feeling of confidence,as it should. The simple alignment indicator is a nice touch, is useful, and adds a unique extra that sets the Thomas brand apart. When in position, again, the overall look and feel is that this is a serious golf club, and you can’t wait to hit it. Distance – The distance from this driver was very good. I would expect that, over time, I would get an extra 10 yards on average, compared to what I’ve played for the last 6 to 7 years. Forgiveness – This is where this club really shines. I have a good swing, but like most golfers, I definitely don’t hit the ball in the center of the sweet spot all the time. Knowing this, the number of times I still got good distance and accuracy was impressive. Even more impressive was the number of excellent drives my 14-year old son achieved using this driver. It really was a noticeable improvement, even though the club is a little too long for him, which says even more about its forgiveness. (Now he wants one!) Accuracy – It’s interesting how much the aiming indicator on this club simply reminds you about the importance of a correctly aimed golf club. More importantly, it works! Because the clubface delivers such forgiveness, most golfers will find the combination to be impressive. It’s such a simple, yet important difference to see that indicator where you usually don’t. Conclusion – If a golf club can do just one thing for a golfer, it should deliver confidence. That can come from a variety of things, ultimately determined by what each golfer values most in his/her game. That said, it’s a pretty safe bet that if the look and feel are comfortable, and the forgiveness and accuracy are an improvement over what they have been used to, then that club will certainly deliver the all-important confidence every golfer is looking for. After using the new Thomas Golf Titanium-Graphite Driver, it is very likely this club will deliver that confidence to most who try it. |
